Associate Artist
Marcus Jarrell Willis (has performed with Alvin Ailey Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, RIOULT, Dominic Walsh Dance Theater and Tania Pérez- Salas Compañía de Danza)
Commissions include numerous creations for dance companies and conservatoires, spanning across the UK, United States and Europe. Willis was the 2018/19 Leverhulme Choreography Fellow at Rambert Dance in London.
In 2021, he became Resident Choreographer for Ballet Cymru and has created several choreographic works for stage and Ballet Cymru’s Digital Stage digitalstage.cymru. In 2022 he launched Works in Progress (WIP), which aims to bridge gaps between mid-career choreographers and venues in Wales.
Willis was appointed Artistic Director of Phoenix Dance Theatre, Leeds, UK in 2023. While endeavouring on this new journey, he continues in his role as Associate Artist, creating exciting new work for Ballet Cymru.
