Jacob Hornsey

Jacob was born in Hexham, United Kingdom and trained in ballet from the age of 7. He combined training at Northern Ballet, Leeds, as an Associate, and at Dance City in Newcastle as a CAT Student, where he continued to improve his skills as a classical dancer and to develop a wider variety of dance styles, such as contemporary and modern. 

Jacob then attended full time training from 2014 to 2017 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he undertook a 3 year degree course which led to a BA in Modern Ballet in June 2017. He then participated in a post-graduation programme at Northern Ballet in Leeds, where he was able to dance with Northern Ballet’s company, understudying various roles in their productions of Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Gloria and Concerto and their children’s ballet of the Ugly Duckling. 

Jacob later accepted a Soloist contract at Ruse State Opera Ballet in Bulgaria where he was given a number of brilliant Soloist roles such as Rothbart in ‘Swan Lake, Espada in ‘Don ‘Quixote’ and Hilarion in ‘Giselle’, and many more. These experiences were fundamental and character building for the future moments he would go through on stage. In 2019-20 Jacob accepted a Corps de Ballet contract at Ballet Theatre UK where he toured Wizard of Oz and Giselle across the UK. After this he is underwent a Soloist and Corps de Ballet contract with Plovdiv State Opera Ballet in Bulgaria where he performed major roles such as Solor and Golden Idol from La Bayadere and The Nutcracker Prince. Now he has began a dancer contract in April 2022 with Ballet Cymru.  

Jacob has taken every opportunity to perform. In collaboration with ballet L’Orent he performed two pieces as a finalist at the U Dance Festival in 2013. Thereafter, as well as performing in various productions at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Scottish Ballet and Teatrul de Balet Sibiu, in March 2016 he performed ‘Wit’s fir ye’ by Jamiel Lawrence (Soloist at Scottish Ballet) at Dumfries House for HRH the Prince of Wales. In 2017 he also performed in Teatrul de Balet Sibiu’s Nutcracker touring around South Korea and Sibiu, Romania.
