About Gwyn

Gwyn has been working as a professional actor, singer writer and director since 1980. After graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, he started working for Cwmni Theatr Cymru (The Welsh Theatre Company) and in 1982 he won a Garmon award from the National Eisteddfod of Wales, as the most promising newcomer of that year. He is by now a respected actor and has appeared in many films, two of which have been nominated for Oscars, ‘Hedd Wyn’, and ‘Solomon and Gaenor’. He has also appeared in many stage productions and in 2002 won the actor of the year award from the Liverpool Daily Post for his portrayal of Atticus Finch in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, the production also winning the Manchester Evening News best touring production of 2002. He was in the first ever episode of ‘Torchwood’ in 2006 and he has appeared in many television plays in Wales and England.

Gwyn is currently working on the popular drama series ‘Rownd a Rownd’ for S4C. He is an associate actor at Clwyd Theatr Cymru where he has appeared in over 20 productions. He is also a patron of Ballet Cymru, with whom he performed the part of the First Voice in their award winning production of “Under Milk Wood” including performances at Sadlers Wells
