Resident Choreographer selected to work with Phoenix Dance

Ballet Cymru are pleased to join in celebrating the announcement that Marcus Jarrell Willis has been appointed as the new incoming artistic director of Phoenix Dance Theatre in Leeds. Willis has been the resident choreographer at Ballet Cymru since 2021. His new role will officially come into effect in October 2023, and we are delighted that he will continue his work with our organisation.

Willis said: “I am honoured and thrilled to begin this incredible new journey with Phoenix Dance Theatre, joining at such an exciting time for the company as it begins a new chapter. I’m excited also to continue nurturing my relationship with Ballet Cymru. I have great hopes and ambitions of using my platform to cultivate stronger connections and relationships between Wales and England, and the wider dance sector of the UK.”
