On Tour in 2024: Romeo a Juliet

We are delighted to announce that our main touring production for 2024 will be ‘Romeo a Juliet’, which will be performed at theatres across Wales and the UK, with the premiere taking place at the Riverfront Theatre Newport on Friday 31 May and 1 June.

Critics’ Circle Award winning company, Ballet Cymru, present an extraordinary adaptation of Shakespeare’s masterpiece “Romeo a Juliet”.

Intense fighting, passionate duets and universal themes echo through dramatic and lyrical choreography. Exquisite costumes and extraordinary video projections create a world of danger and excitement where two young lovers are caught in an age-old feud.

"Romeo a Juliet" features choreography from company Directors Darius James OBE and Amy Doughty, and costumes by Georg Meyer-Wiel who has created costumes for some of the world’s leading companies including Rambert Dance Company and Australian Dance Theatre.

The production was Winner of Best Large Scale Dance Production at the Wales Theatre Awards, and we are really looking forward to presenting our ballet adaptation of this Shakespearian classic again.
