1,888 Students, 6 Schools, 88 sessions is what the Duets education team have achieved in the last 7 weeks!
This was a huge effort from the team, management, schools and our partnered community organisations. The team literally wrapped up on Tuesday 12 March after filming a segment for ITV Wales which went out Tuesday evening.
These residences have been so important as it gives the potential schools a taster of what to expect from the weekly dance sessions the programme offers. The team have been blown away by the willingness from students and faculty to give it a go and there are some incredible young dancers out there that will flourish in the programme.
Also for the first time ever we had a ‘Duets Dance Day’ held at Ballet Cymru's company base in Newport!
We also combined 5 of our cohorts and their community dance practitioners from around Wales to join the education team and Artistic Directors for a 1 day workshop. They learnt new steps, barre and centre work, creative practise and company repertoire.
Getting everyone in the same room was no small feat, but it was enormously valuable for everyone involved. We saw new skills learnt with connections and friendships made.
