School Residencies

Ballet Cymru's dance residency programme offers school children a more sustained and thorough working experience with Ballet Cymru. Residencies are tailored to suit the needs of each group, are flexible in nature and have varied outcomes, depending on each group’s expectations.

Some of these residencies result in informal showings for families and friends, some will involve a curtain-raiser performance on stage prior to Ballet Cymru’s performance, while for others it is more about gaining skills and new experiences without having the need for performance.

Residencies are designed to encourage access, participation, understanding, observation and enjoyment of dance. They also build on skills such as technique, creativity and performance. They can introduce new themes into a group or can build on practices already established.

Residencies are a great way to experience dance in a fun, friendly and safe environment. Ballet Cymru Residencies work with a range of groups including people with learning and physical disabilities, people living in remote geographical areas, primary and secondary schools, colleges and community centres.

Some past residencies include:

  • Aberbargoed Primary School performing at Parc Cwm Darran
  • Llanllyfni Primary School performing at Pontio, Bangor

  • Students at Neath Port Talbot College, Neath
