New Resident Choreographer

Ballet Cymru is delighted to announce the appointment of Marcus Jarrell Willis as Resident Choreographer.

Marcus has been working with the company for over two years creating work on the Pre-Professional Programme and for the company’s International Ballet Summer School. In 2020, during the lockdown, he choreographed his first piece on the main company, Isolated Pulses using masks and social distancing. In 2021 he followed that with another piece Isolated Pulses Undone which again reflected where the company was in terms of getting back into the studio and working together again.

Artistic Director Darius James OBE commented “We are very excited to welcome Marcus into the Ballet Cymru family and to work with him more regularly across all our education and professional work. It’s the latest piece in the jigsaw that will see Ballet Cymru return stronger and with new fresh artistic impetuous after the difficult last year and a half.”
